Cantigny Golf will proudly play host to the historic Chicago Open, which is returning to it’s original format as a stand-alone championship. The event, open to amateurs and professionals, guarantees a minimum $50,000 purse and will be contested over a three day, 54-hole stroke play format.
The tournament has been played in various iterations dating back nearly a century, boasting a prestigious list of champions which includes Macdonald Smith, Johnny Farrell, Gene Sarazen, Sam Snead, Ben Hogan, Byron Nelson, Bobby Locke, Ken Venturi and Luke Donald. The event returns in 2013, administered by and benefitting the second-largest junior golf program in the nation, the Illinois Junior Golf Association.
